WMSRDC is responsible for the management and administration of the homeland security program for the counties of Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, and Ottawa; and the Grand Rapids Metroplitan Medical Response System. As the designated fiduciary for both programs, the Regional Commission is the grantee for all homeland security grants.

WMSRDC provides management and administrative services to the Region 6 Homeland Security Planning Board and the Metropolitan Medical Response System Steering Committee. It also conducts homeland security planning as assigned.
