In Fall 2022, WMSRDC assisted Newaygo County with updating its 5-year recreation plan. The Newaygo County Recreation Plan highlights the county’s recreational needs and wishes over the five-year period, 2023-2027. The Plan profiles many of the recreation assets within the county, with particular focus on county-owned and operated campgrounds. The Plan also includes a full public involvement survey and accessibility assessments for county-operated parks. The Plan was adopted by the Newaygo County Board of Commissioners in December 2022. Once the plan is submitted and approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Newaygo County will be eligible to apply for certain types of recreation funding through the State of Michigan through the year 2027.
