In the spring of 2019, WMSRDC began the process of assisting the Village of New Era with concurrently updating the village’s future land use plan and recreation plan. These planning documents will communicate the community’s vision for the future. Both plans must be reviewed, and updated as needed, every five years.
A future land use plan, also known as a master plan, is founded in the desires of the citizenry and is intended to guide and support decision making by community leaders. Successful completion of a recreation plan will qualify the Village to apply for recreation grants offered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The plans are scheduled for completion in early 2020.
