WMSRDC Receives Grants for Study of Port of Muskegon Development

WMSRDC has received a $62,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration to conduct an infrastructure and organizational analysis focused around the Muskegon Port. WMSRDC will work with the Economic Development sub-committee of the Muskegon County Port Advisory Committee on this project that will focus on the existing assets and future capacity of all four modes of transportation around the Port including water, roads, rail, and air. The grant will be matched with $62,500 in local money totaling $125,000 In addition, an organizational structure analysis of port governance structures will be conducted.

Also WMSRDC and Michigan State University will receive $111,706 to study the economic benefits of using the Port to recycle and reuse structural debris from around the Great Lakes for other projects in the region.
