In the spring of 2018, Golden Township contracted with WMSRDC to help update the township’s master plan. Golden Township is situated on the Lake Michigan shoreline west of the City of Hart in Oceana County. The master plan, which must be reviewed or updates every 5 years, will communicate the community’s vision for the future of Golden Township over the next 5 to 20 years.
Public input is an essential component of the planning process, and will serve as the foundation for revisions of the Golden Township Master Plan. A mail-in survey is available to the public on the township’s website, www.goldentownship.org. In addition to the survey, other methods of gathering input will be utilized to further identify the needs and desires of the citizenry. The Golden Township Planning Commission will host a public hearing at its regular meeting on July 31 at the Golden Township Hall. There will also be an opportunity for public input presented at the township’s annual Apple and BBQ Festival in September. Members of the public will have yet another opportunity near the end of the planning process to review and comment on the draft master plan before it is officially adopted by the community. That is expected to happen in late 2018 or early 2019.
