Oceana County Planning Assistance

What’s New

Take the Oceana County Recreation Opinion Survey!

The Oceana County Parks & Recreation Commission will welcome public comments regarding the Oceana County parks system during its monthly meeting on September 7, 2023 at 3:00pm in the boardroom of the Oceana County Building located at 100 S. State Street, Hart, MI 49420.

In the fall of 2022, WMSRDC began the process of assisting Oceana County with updating the county’s master plan and recreation plan. These planning documents will communicate a common vision for communities within the county and serve as “factbooks” for information about Oceana County. Both types of plan must be reviewed, and updated as needed, every five years.

The Oceana County Master Plan is expected to be completed in fall of 2023, while the recreation plan will be complete by February 1, 2024. The master plan is primarily an advisory document that will help guide priorities and recommendations issued by the Oceana County Planning Commission. Once the recreation plan is completed and approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Oceana County will become eligible to apply to the state for certain grants for recreation improvements for five years, when the plan must be updated once again.
