In the spring of 2019, WMSRDC began the process of assisting the Village of New Era with concurrently updating the village’s future land use plan and recreation plan. These planning documents will communicate the community’s vision for the future. Both plans must be reviewed, and updated as needed, every five years.
The recreation plan was completed and adopted by the village in December 2019, and approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in February 2020. The village is now eligible to apply for recreation improvement grants offered by the DNR through the year 2024. A PDF of the plan is available in the WMSRDC Digital Library.
The proposed New Era Future Land Use Plan is available for public review from July 9 through September 9. Click here to download. Comments and questions related to the proposed plan may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, members of the public will be welcome to attend a public hearing at the New Era Village Hall at 7:00 PM on September 10 to provide comments and ask questions in person.
