The MPO is required to produce a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) with, at a minimum, a twenty-year planning horizon.  The MTP includes both long- and short-range strategies/actions that lead to the development of an integrated, intermodal transportation system that facilitates safe and efficient movement of people and goods, while addressing current and future transportation demands.  Throughout the plan development, deficiencies have been identified on the MPO transportation system and improvements are planned to mitigate those problem areas.  This list of projects is included in the plan.  WestPlan, as a part of of the MTP development process, is required to seek public comment and input from the public and from agencies that are resonsible for environmental protection, historical preservation, natural resource management, transportation services, economic development, human services, land use planning, etc.
